Which repository? chrome is not included in the slackware 13.1 repository, so you got it from somewhere else. Did you try to launch it from the command line and see if you get any errors?

That's because that package is not actually built for 13.1, but for 13.0 instead. Slacky.eu packages are not the best you can find quality-wise. Try to create a symlink, maybe it will work, maybe not.

Code: Select all

ln -s /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.8 /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62

In the future, if there is not a Salix specific package for the app you seek, try the slackbuilds at slackbuilds.org. There is a slackbuild script for google chrome for Slackware 13.1 at slackbuilds, org :
http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13.1/ ... le-chrome/
These slackbuild scripts will work for both 32bit and 64bit Slackware, unless other wise stated at slackbuilds.org.

Gapan,
Is it safe to assume that, since Salix packages are backward compatible with Slackware, are Slackware packages and slackbuild scripts from slackbuilds.org fully compatible with Salix?
The reason I ask is that I just came across this thread about sbopkg:

Usually yes, to the same extent they are compatible with Slackware. In fact the spkg package is the only big difference regarding the base system. So if it isn't about pkgtools it's generally compatible.
So you can assume that Salix is 99.9% compatible to Slackware. :D

Of course. Shador, make that 100%. :D

But sbopkg is not part of slackware. And it has nothing to do with the actual packages anyway.
